Check the App Store region and account

This app isn't available in the mainland China store. App Store availability depends on the country or region of the Apple ID used for purchases, not your device's current location. Even if you open the US App Store product page linked here, the App Store on your device may show results based on the store associated with your current account. So whether a webpage opens, whether the app appears in search, and whether your account can buy it are three separate things to check.

On your device, open Settings, tap your Apple ID, select Media & Purchases, then tap View Account and Country/Region. This shows the store associated with your current purchase account. To find the option for changing regions, go to Country/Region as well. The wording may vary slightly between system versions, so follow what your device displays. This section only explains where to check; whether you can change regions depends on Apple's account rules and the prompts shown to you.

Before changing regions, read the conditions shown on your account page, especially any notes about your balance, existing subscriptions, and payment methods. Don't skip these checks just to find an app, and don't confuse changing your device language or system region with changing your App Store region. If the Apple ID at the top of Settings differs from the one under Media & Purchases, use the account that actually completed the App Store purchase to check your purchase history.

Once you've confirmed the region, open the App Store link on this page. If the product page still says the app is unavailable, note the exact message and check Content & Privacy Restrictions, age ratings, and account status on your device. Search terms can help you find the page, but they don't verify the app. Before paying, check all three details below.

Verify the genuine Shadowrocket app

Check the developer, icon, and app ID against the App Store listing.

All three details must match

First, check the developer name: Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Verify it on the product page, not just in the search results. Similar listings may use near-identical names or descriptions. Seeing Shadowrocket in the title isn't enough to confirm the app's identity.

Second, check the official icon: a white background with a blue-purple outlined rocket, matching the verification card on this page and the icon in the site header. The icon can help you identify the app, but it shouldn't be the only basis for a purchase. If the icon looks similar but the developer is different, return to the correct product page and verify it again.

Third, check the app ID: 932747118. The App Store link on this page ends in id932747118, which identifies the product it points to. To verify the number, check the product page's share details or the number in your browser's address bar. Search ranking, promoted placement, and screenshot style don't establish an app's identity.

Screenshots help identify screens, not fill in settings

Both images are official App Store screenshots. Home shows the connection toggle, Global Routing, Connectivity Test, and the SERVER group. Add Server shows fields such as Type, Host, Port, Password, and Method. Use them to identify screens; they don't mean you already have connection details after installing the app.

Text, layout, and options in screenshots may differ slightly from what's currently shown on your device. Use the in-app interface to find the actual controls. Verify the three App Store details first, then use screenshots to understand the screens. Use your own server details; don't infer or fill in connection parameters from an image.

Buying and opening Shadowrocket on iPhone

Complete the App Store purchase first, then set up device authorization and connection details.

Check your device and account before buying

Open Shadowrocket's App Store product page on your iPhone. Check the compatibility section, then review the price and purchase button. The App Store listing is the authority on system requirements; don't rely only on this manual, an old screenshot, or an installation on another device to determine whether your current device is compatible. Before paying, confirm you're using the purchase account you'll use to find the purchase later.

For your first purchase, follow the App Store prompts to pay and verify your identity, then wait for the app to install. If the page offers a way to download the app again, first check whether it's already in your purchase history. If a download stalls, stays on Waiting, or shows a payment prompt, read the system message and check your network, available storage, and account payment status. Don't assume every issue is caused by Shadowrocket's connection settings.

Understand VPN configuration authorization

Once installation is complete, open the app. Not Connected in Home means no connection is active; it doesn't mean the purchase failed. When you add or enable a connection, the system may ask permission to add a VPN configuration and request device authentication. This system authorization is needed to configure the device's network connection. Review the authorization target and prompt on your device before proceeding.

Allowing a VPN configuration doesn't automatically fill in a server address, password, or subscription. First import your own existing subscription or server details and check that all required fields are present. Then select Global Routing and enable the connection. If you previously canceled system authorization, follow the prompt the next time you connect. Don't repeatedly delete other network configurations on your device without understanding the prompt.

Using Shadowrocket on iPad and other compatible devices

The purchase works across iPhone and iPad. Check the compatibility section for other devices.

Restore your iPad purchase with the same account

The purchase works across iPhone and iPad: after buying once with the same Apple ID, you can install the app on compatible iPhone and iPad devices. If you bought it on iPhone, confirm that your iPad's Media & Purchases account is the original purchase account, then find Shadowrocket in the App Store or your purchased items. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility.

The iPad's screen size differs from the iPhone's, so layouts, visible details, and control positions may vary. Find controls by their interface labels, such as Home, Config, Settings, and Add Server. In portrait or landscape mode, don't look for buttons based only on screenshot coordinates. Confirm which screen you're on, then find the control with the same name.

Installing the app on another device doesn't mean all connection details will transfer automatically. After opening it for the first time, check your server list, active configuration file, and Global Routing. If the list is empty, reimport your own saved subscription or server details. If content is already there, confirm it's the configuration you want to use rather than assuming the new device has the same setup as the old one.

Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision

The App Store product page's compatibility section lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, open the same product page on that device and check compatibility. The App Store listing is the authority on universal purchase availability, device compatibility, and system requirements. Don't assume an iPhone purchase automatically covers every device.

These devices have different input methods and screen layouts. The step-by-step instructions here focus on iPhone and iPad. Before buying, check whether the app is available on your target device, then find the configuration controls on that device. Don't assume phone screenshots show exactly the same interface on other devices.

Restore purchases after changing devices or reinstalling

Find your purchase history first, then restore your own connection details.

Redownload from your App Store purchase history

If you purchased the app with the same Apple ID, changing devices or reinstalling usually doesn't require another payment. Open the App Store, go to your account, and find Shadowrocket under purchased items. On some system versions, purchased apps appear in your account's app list; use the option shown on your device. Redownload the app, then check the developer name and app ID to avoid selecting a similarly named listing in search results.

If the product page shows a price instead of a redownload option, don't pay again right away. First check that Media & Purchases is signed in to the original purchase account, then verify that the original transaction completed and whether the store region or purchase history has changed. The account name shown on your device doesn't necessarily mean the App Store is using the same purchase account. Check the account shown on the purchase page.

If you still can't find the purchase, check your transaction history on the device and use the account support options provided by Apple to verify its status. For Family Sharing, check the product page and your Family settings rather than assuming every purchase automatically appears for family members. Apple account and App Store records determine how purchase access is handled.

Restoring the app doesn't restore its configuration

Redownloading the app restores access to the client, but your server list, subscription URL, rule files, and local changes are separate data. Before changing devices, make sure you've saved anything you need to restore, and check whether it contains account details or access credentials. Store this information securely. Don't post a full subscription URL or password on a public page when troubleshooting.

After installing on a new device, import your own subscription or server details. Check the server name, protocol type, Host, Port, and any required authentication fields. Then review your current configuration and Global Routing, test the basic connection, and restore your personal rules one at a time. This helps you troubleshoot purchase account, data migration, and network connection issues separately.

App updates are also delivered through the App Store. Check your account's update list or enable automatic updates in your device settings. If controls move after an update, follow the labels currently shown in the app. Keep a restorable copy before making important configuration changes so you can distinguish the effects of an update, changed settings, and network changes.

Price and one-time purchase details

Treat the client purchase and connection service as separate costs.

The price at checkout is the price that applies

Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase. The US App Store reference price is $2.99; other storefronts show local pricing. Check the App Store product page and payment confirmation screen for the actual price. A one-time purchase covers the client; it isn't a monthly app fee. Don't confuse the renewal period of another service with the app's purchase terms.

Before confirming payment, check the app name, developer, and total. Currency and prices may vary by storefront, so the reference price on this page may differ from the amount charged to your account. To see whether you can restore the purchase on another device, check the original purchase account, device compatibility, and App Store listing.

What to do after buying the app

After purchase, import connection details you already have and choose the Global Routing mode that suits your configuration. Config, Proxy, and Direct are different routing modes; they don't provide server details. Rule-based routing also depends on the active configuration file, so the purchase status alone can't tell you whether your network connection should work.

If an updated subscription contains no entries or a server won't connect, first check that your own details are complete, your network is working, and the information is still valid. Buying the app again won't fix an incorrect address, expired credentials, or incompatible rules. Once you've confirmed the installation and account are in order, follow the import and first connection guide. To adjust rules, see the rules and configuration reference.

Download and purchase FAQs

Use the App Store prompts to find the problem and avoid paying twice.

Can't find Shadowrocket on the App Store? Check these settings first.

This app isn't available in the mainland China store. First check the country or region of the Apple ID used for Media & Purchases, then review age ratings and account status under Content & Privacy Restrictions. Open the App Store link on this page and check what the store actually displays; search results alone aren't enough to confirm availability.

The product page opens, but you can't download the app. What should you check?

Read the App Store message first, then check system compatibility, available storage, network status, and account payment status. If you've already purchased the app, make sure the current Media & Purchases account is the one used for the original purchase. Don't pay again until you know what's causing the issue.

Do you have to pay again after changing devices or reinstalling?

If you purchased the app with the same Apple ID, you can usually download it again from your App Store account's purchased items without paying again. Restoring the app doesn't restore all connection data. On a new device, check or reimport your own subscriptions, server details, and configuration files.

Can you install it on iPad after buying it on iPhone?

The purchase works across iPhone and iPad: with the same Apple ID, you can install the app on both compatible devices. Use the original purchase account to find it in your purchased items. Check the App Store listing for system requirements and purchase eligibility.

Can you install it on Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?

The App Store listing's compatibility section includes Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the listing on the device you want to use. The App Store listing is the authority on universal purchase availability, device compatibility, and system requirements.

The app is in English. How do you follow this manual?

This manual keeps interface labels such as Home, Config, Global Routing, and Add Server in English so you can find them by name. Check the connection status in Home, then follow the guide to import information you already have. Official screenshots help identify screens; don't copy the connection details shown in them.
